What are the chances of encountering a shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Go?
Currently, most non-event Shiny encounters rate at 1/400, but during events (especially Community Day) the odds are much higher, sometimes as high as 1/20. Even outside of events, however, this is a dramatic increase from the base rate of 1/4096 in base game or 1/512 using the Masuda Method and a Shiny Charm.
That said, it's still random, so you might get a Shiny right away, or it might take twice or even three times as long as someone else. Your best bet for finding shiny Pokemon is to tap every Pokemon that appears.
Can you hatch Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Go?
Yes, and there is some evidence to support that baby Pokemon have a higher chance of becoming shiny than other hatched Pokemon.
Do shiny Pokémon appear nearby or can they be seen in Pokémon Go?
None. Although all Pokémon appear in near or sightings, they look normal, exactly as they appear on the map.
It is only revealed as shiny when you tap it and go to the recording screen. So if you see a regular Magikarp or Pikachu nearby or sightings, don't discard it - once you tap it, it might be a Shiny. And that list of possible Shiny Pokemon keeps getting longer, so be sure to check Shiny them all out!
Er Shiny Pokémon Shiny for alle i Pokémon Go?
None. With Ditto, when a Pokemon is determined to be Ditto, the servers make it Ditto for everyone. With Shiny Pokémon, this is player-by-player.
This means you and a friend can get the same Magikarp, yours can be Shiny and theirs can't.
There has been one exception so far: For Community Day July 2018, Pokemon Go had Squirtle Sunglasses available through Field Research and Tasks that had a Glowing Sunglasses Squirtle.there is alsoBrilliant for everyone!
Can you show Shiny Pokemon at Gyms in Pokemon Go?
You can, but with two caveats:
- Shiny Legendaries still cannot enter gyms.
- Shiny versions do not count as different Pokémon, so if there is already a regular version in the Gym, you will not be able to add your Shiny version.
Do shiny Pokémon appear in the Pokédex in Pokémon Go?
They do. Although they are not separate entries, you can access the Shiny variants in the main entries, just like the gender variants. Follow these easy steps to see shiny variants:
- PressMenubutton (looks like a Poké Ball), right button.
- Press onPokédex, top middle.
- Do not TouchPokémonyou want to check. (Only Magikarp and Gyarados for now.)
- Look for the glowing emblem.
Of course, the Shiny Badge will only appear when you catch a Shiny version of that Pokémon. Alternatively, if the shiny variant is the only one you've caught, you won't be able to see the default form in your Pokédex.
Do Shiny Pokémon behave differently in Pokémon Go?
None. Shiny Pokémon have the same stats (IV) as non-Shiny variants. In other words, an interval. You can get a perfect Shiny Magikarp, but you can also get a not so good one. They also have no special moves or powers of any kind. Apart from looking different, they are exactly the same.
However,Community Dayis the easiest time to catch Shiny Pokémon. If evolved during the event window, the Shiny Pokemon will gain the unique move just like the normal Featured Pokemon, so many Shiny Pokemon have this unique move.
If you evolve Shiny Pokemon, will you get your Shiny evolution in Pokemon Go?
Yes. The shiny status, like IVs, stays with the Pokémon throughout its evolution. If you catch a Shiny Magikarp and decide to press the Evolution button, you'll end up with a Shiny Gyarados. In fact, with very limited exceptions, this is the only way to get an evolved Shiny Pokemon.
If you catch a Shiny Pokemon, can it turn into a Shiny Ditto in Pokemon Go?
None. Magikarp was removed from the Ditto potentials shortly after Shiny Magikarp became available, as have other regular Pokemon since then. But on February 20, 2021Pokémon Go Tour: KantoThe event unlocks the remaining Shiny Gen 1 Pokémon, including Ditto. It's unclear if this means that Pokémon with the potential to be Shiny will be able to be Ditto, or if Niantic will handle Shiny Ditto differently than other Shiny Pokémon.
Can you transfer Shiny Pokemon back to the teacher in Pokemon Go?
You can transfer Shiny Pokemon, but the game will give you a warning just like event Pokemon.
When are more Shiny Pokémon coming to Pokémon Go?
New Shiny Pokémon are released during most events and Community Days. Sometimes they are also introduced with updates. You can count on at least one evolutionary family being added to the Shiny pool every month.
OK, fine, just tell me how to get them all!
First, find as many Pokémon as possible. This means finding alleys or nests where these types of Pokémon are common. Then tap, tap, tap and see if you find a Shiny.
For eggs and babies, collect as many as possible. Walk as much as you can. And close, close, close.
For the Pokémon raid, the story is the same. Find the attacks. Defeat the raid boss. Hope what you get is brilliant.
Field research. Find the quests that give you a Pokémon with a shiny form, then work with your community to find the PokéStops that give you the right quests and complete as many as you can.
Shiny Field Research Pokémon have a 0% escape rate, but for everything else, remember the basics:
- ABC. Always stay bent. When you manage to hit the Curve Ball every time, you get a bonus of 1.7x every time.
- Maximize your medals.Some are easier to obtain than others, but do not use resources like Great or Ultra Balls or Razz Berries;
- consistency counts. Aim for the smallest target you can hit each time. If it's good, it's good. If it's great or excellent, even better. But the bonus you get is better than the one you lose, and the extra 1.3-2x doesn't use resources either and can make a difference.
- real basis. Use Razz Berries as needed. Unlike Great or Ultra Balls, you can't go wrong with a Razz Berry and its 1.5x bonus will lasttillyou're right. For new Golden Razz Berries, it's 2.5x!
- hit the balls. Use Great and Ultra Balls to maximize your chances. You get 1.5x extra for an awesome ball and 2x for an ultra ball, so use them to get those super rare or hard to catch Pokemon.

FAQs
What is the number 1 rarest shiny in Pokemon GO? ›
1) Shiny Detective Pikachu
Although there are already many hat-wearing versions in Pokemon GO, Detective Pikachu is the rarest shiny version you can collect. It is available for catching only at a one-time limited event and is disabled after being caught in the wild.
Shiny Pokédex
It registers all Shiny Pokémon, unlocked after registering 15 Shiny Pokémon. It is hued yellow and it is split into region sections.
Shinies are found by simply trying to catch Pokémon and seeing if they display as an alternate colour in the battle and post-battle screens. They won't appear as a different colour in the field, so you have to attempt to catch them first.
